After School Art

A Reggio Emilia-Inspired After School Art Program:

In our small, nurturing classes students will receive individualized, digital-free guidance that

fosters self-expression, reflection, and creative problem solving. Inspired by the Reggio

Emilia approach, our open-ended, hands-on art activities prioritize exploration over

perfection. Children are encouraged to think and work like artists while building self-

confidence, community, and lasting friendships.

 

Each month Allison will introduce new cross-curricular themes that integrate math, science, social studies and literacy through the arts. Examples may include designing/ inking up and block printing patterns inspired by patterns in math; science based cyanotype printing with uv sun rays; building clay glazed and fired clay pots inspired by Mayan artists, and painted paper collages in the style of children's book author Eric Carle.

Allison guides activities where the creative process is valued over the final product and activities are tailored to meet each child where they are. With a strong focus on social-emotional learning (SEL), this program encourages collaboration, reflection, and joyful discovery.
